some much awaited good news

May 7, 2004

Wow, it looks like my dad’s passport is all processed now. It’ll still take time, as they have to clear the schedules for an INS agent to travel with him, as well as coordinate with the Korean government to have someone that’ll meet them and/or fly with them, and buy the plane tickets, of course. I don’t know what the process of getting the funds for the plane ticket purchase is, so who knows how long that will take. But this makes me very optimistic.

My dad was told by the INS people that his passport was done fast because the Korean government is cooperating with them and asking them to speed things up, so at least my dad can feel good that the country he is being deported to is tyring to be as good to him as possible.

hope for dad’s release

Great news!! My dad called my mom today and told her that the INS (or whatever) had him take his photo for his passport application today. And my mom called the Korean consulate to make sure that they are still going to expedite the processing of his passport application, as they said they would, and they will! This means that he might be released to Korea within a month or two. That would be perfect, as my mom will be in Korea when he is sent there.

Of course, now I have to deal with the fact that I have to see him and live with him for two weeks. Egads. Heh. But I guess I can be a grown-up about it, if it means that he can be a free man again!

In addition, I called the refinancing mortgage company today, and they told me that they paid off my original mortgage company on 4/29 and that I don’t have to make my first payment until June! Yay! However, not knowing this, I’ve already sent a mortgage payment to the old mortgage co. I hope they send me my refund soon.

Yay!
