sick

November 29, 2005

It looks like it’s the season of getting sick. First, it was Seppo. Then it was Roopa. Then, it was Seppo again. Then it was Uyen. And now, it is me.

I think I have the stomach flu. I thought it was food poisoning, but I think I’m wrong. Monday at work was a sheer disaster. I had a non-stop barf fest yesterday. I barfed after I drove up to Seppo’s work. Then I barfed in the bathroom of the restaurant we met Seppo’s parents in. I had to leave the restaurant and lie down in the car, it was so bad. Then I barfed when I got home. Then I slept for like 3 hours, then got up and barfed again, spending about an hour with Roopa before going to sleep.

I’m pretty sure barfing again this morning would help things feel better, but I honestly don’t think there is anything left in there. I haven’t felt this awful in years.

I basically get sick for a day or two every year. It’s usually a pretty mild cold and generally forgetable.

But I get food poisoning all the time. Not that the food is bad, but my reaction is as if it were. After years of abuse, my stomach is pretty sensitive. So, it’s like I was poisoned.

Like today. I went to a co-worker’s “I quit” party last night and then had some spicy soup afterwards. Now, I feel like puking, but don’t have the energy (and I really don’t want to do it in a public restroom).

I always manage to get my wife sick with my cold. However, for her, it always lasts a while and her symptoms are worse.

Steph is still sick from the cold I gave her a couple weeks ago, but this is a rarity. Usually I get sick for a day or two, and it passes her by completely.

But I’ve gotten pretty good at fighting them off these past few years. If I feel like I’m coming down with something, I take an extra vitamin, drink some juice, make myself as warm as possible, and go to sleep. About 75% of the time, if I catch it in time, I’m better by the next day. When they do stick though, they’re usually pretty nasty.

Get well soon!

Sounds awful; like a hang-over from hell.

Get well, soon!

A cold is bad enough, but this…

This must be the season for getting sick. I was sick about 3 weeks ago for only 2 days or so. Now, since everyone else is getting the 2 day illness, I feel it coming on again. I still am not used to living in Houston. My allergies here compared to San Antonio is unreal.

I hope you start to feel better soon. 🙂
