Unbelievably small!
Seppo got me one of these beautiful things
as an early birthday present! It is so wee! So lovely! So tiny. Also, potentially crushable, so I had better be super-careful with it. It is silly how small and fragile it looks. I’ll have to get a nice protective case for it, maybe an armstrap for when I go to the gym.
Speaking of the iPod nano and the gym, I think this partnership between Nike sneakers and Apple is a great idea. I think since I am looking for good running shoes anyway, I may splurge for the shoes and the iPod sport kit. It’s not for people who already have heartrate-and-more monitor watches, but since I am not one of those people, I think it could be a good purchase. Monitoring heartrate is a huge deal though, so I’ll have to think about whether given that I now have a nano and need to get sneakers, if this purchase will be worth it. It’s only $29.95* for the Sport Kit so it might be a good gamble.
Still need to ponder…
Anyway, muchas gracias, Seppo! 😀
*ETA: That’s the cost on top of a new pair of running shoes, Sport Kit-able or not. 🙂
😀 Yes, I have to get their special shoes. But since I have to get a pair of running shoes anyway, the price of one of the special ones are quite comparable to regular sneakers, so I figured that part wouldn’t cost me any extra. 🙂
Thanks for the recommendation on the case!
I was going to recommend iSkin as well. My work here is … unnecessary.
😀 Hee.
It’s nice having the nano on top of the regular 20GB iPod I got from Seppo a couple of years ago. The big one has *all* my music, and hitting random is kind of a funny experience where sometimes I don’t even realize I had a song that’s been on there forever, and sometimes, I hit a streak of one band for a while because I have too many of their albums.
With the nano, I only have my very very favorite songs on there. Every song is a hit (with me)! 😀
I do need to rerip some of my CDs at a lower rate though. I ripped at a ridiculously high rate when I know I can’t hear the difference.
A program called Anapod Explorer will automatically samle down songs as you copy them to your iPod, saving you from having to re-rip everything to different bit rates:

Awesome! Thanks so much for that link! It will save me all sorts of time.
You’re much more appreciative of pencils than I am.
Speaking of iPod nanos and the gym, and cases, I recommend: http://www.iskin.com/duo_nano/features.html
It has a good belt clip and a lot of protection. It’s overkill in most instances (you can get thinner cases), but for the gym, where it’s more likely to get dropped or bumped into, it’s good.
And, I believe you still have to buy a pair of their special shoes to use the Sport Kit. They have a broader line of shoes these days, but I think you need to get a pair with the pocket in the sole.
That is, you can’t get away with the $29.95 option is my point. Maybe you can attach the thing to a different part of the shoe if you want to be clever. 🙂
