i have triumphed
on wednesday night, i finally joined the ranks of every average schmoe in the 80s by solving the rubik’s cube. well, i mean, not on my own. i used the little solution guide. so i guess i am saying that i successfully followed directions and was able to see my own hands complete the last turn that brought the cube to its solved state. nonetheless, it was a satisfying moment, as i had never been able to do so before. heh. i’m so feeble. 🙂
hee! a spoon! i have used butter knives, but never a spoon. after i solved it, i decided that if you rotate one face 90 degrees, followed by a turn on the axis parallel to that face, and repeat the process over and over again from the solved state, that eventually, you should return to the solved state. instead of trying to mathematically prove or disprove this assertion, i tried to manually do this, which is, of course, insane. i ended up making my brother-in-law’s rubik’s cube really loose and weird. i’ll have to buy him a replacement.
The only way I ever solved a Rubik’s Cube was with a spoon.
