Back to work

July 10, 2006

I always forget how useful to-do lists are for me. I’ve changed over my firefox homepage to point to the google personalized homepage (w/ The Google 15 prominently displayed on the top left) and to my list of daily to-dos on Joe’s Goals.

I’ve been formulating a blog post in my mind for about a week and a half, tentatively titled “Unified Theory”, covering my (very derivative) theory on social conflict. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to writing it up.

Coming back to work from a vacation is always hard, but I feel energized and ready to go. I have a list of items that I am excited to get done. This doesn’t mean that I don’t wish I had another several months of vacation, however. 😀

Does Google have a peripheral that will send an electric shock to remind me of appointments, yet!?

I’m thinking of buying a PDA so that I can place my “to do” list and my appointments with an alarm all in one place. Previously, I used a Franklin planner, but that leather bound book won’t do squat to remind me of meetings and appointments. 🙁

Google Calendar + SMS notifications is about as close to an electrick shock as I think you’ll get.

How did you get Joe’s Goals on your Google Homepage? Or am I misreading that?

Oh yeah, I just have two separate tabs as my homepage, with Google home page on one tab and Joe’s Goals on the other.

So, I have a followup question: how do you have two different tabs as your homepage?

On firefox, you can do it two different ways:

1. Have your two tabs open to what you want, then click on Options then select “Use Current Pages”.

2. Click on Options and type in the urls you want for your homepage, separated by the pipe | symbol, no spaces.

You can have as many tabs as you want. Well, I’m sure there is a limit, but I haven’t hit it myself.

Actually, I just did what this person did today, making my personalized google page a sidebar on firefox. Joe’s Goals is now one homepage tab; the other is blank. 😀

Interesting idea… I’ll give that sidebar idea a shot!
