Video on Web2.0
This is a beautifully clear and concise visual presentation on why Web2.0 is significant.
Interesting, but it doesn’t make me hate the phrase “Web 2.0” any less. It’s like podcast, it’s a renaming/branding of something that didn’t need it. How is a podcast any different than regular streaming audio? It’s not. How is Web 2.0 any different than whatever came before it? It’s not. The internet was designed to change and adapt, and I don’t think it requires a new name to do so.
That was great.
I’d disagree that Web 2.0 isn’t a useful term. There has been an explosion of content these past few years, fuelled by a lot of different factors. I think it’s useful to delineate now as being different from “before”, becuase it is different.
(I’m generated terrible content right now, because I’m not taking the time to sort out how to write this.)
Saying that the 80’s were different from the 90’s is false, in one way, because it’s not as if 1990 was some kind of magical tipping point ideal for demarking time periods. But it is useful to break time up into sections for analysis and comparison and conversation. Similarly, though Web 2.0 is a natural evolution given everything that came before, it’s pretty different from the web of, say, 1998. Having a way to differentiate, in conversation, is useful.
Teh awesome. Thanks!
