but he’s finally produced a work i can genuinely respect, as opposed to reluctantly just acknowledge as demonstrating talent, while not liking the actual end-product. Check out the video, read the damn good disseration written by a dailykos contributor, and vote to see it on TRL on MTV. yeah, i know, mtv. heh.

I think the main thing that Mosh does for me is that it illustrates that Eminem is maturing. Consider the self-centered adolescent, whose world centers around them, their problems, how people perceive them, etc. As that adolescent grows up, they begin to internalize the external world. To me, Mosh is the work of someone who has finally moved into the post-adolescent phase, where now the external world is relevant to him, internally.

The first Eminem album I bought was The Eminem Show. While there are a few songs on the album that I find literally repulsive, due to their content, there are a few songs that are interesting, and heartfelt, and very emotionally raw, even if the content is entirely self-centered. Then, there are other songs, where the writing is just so creative and inspired, it shows a stunning talent.

After listening to the album for the second or third time, I lamented that there was no socially conscious Eminem, because someone like him with a potent, vital *message* could move mountains.

I hope that is still true today.
